Hays Travel’s Generous Donation
Hays Travel in Birtley recently donated £847.20 to Heel and Toe Children’s Charity after receiving match funding from the Hays Travel Foundation.
The team from Birtley held a coach trip towards the end of last year, where almost 50 of their friends and customers enjoyed a day out in York.
On the day they raised a total of £423.60 through ticket sales and a raffle combined. The proceeds will go towards the charity’s mission – to support north east children with physical disabilities.

Branch manager of Hays Travel Birtley, Amy Simpson, said: “This was our first coach trip and we feel like it was a great success. We are pleased with the amount we raised and with the funds we received from the Hays Travel Foundation. We are absolutely thrilled about it and would like to thank everyone who joined us on the day and took part in our raffle to help this fantastic charity.”
Jane Long, development executive for Heel & Toe said: “Local business support is so important to Heel & Toe Charity and the staff and customers at Hays Travel Birtley have given us fantastic ongoing support. The money they have raised for us will make a huge difference to the children we are helping at our therapy centre in Chester-Le-Street. Thank you to everyone involved.”
The trip is part of Hays Travel’s local community partnerships, which comprises of retail staff working with schools, charities and organisations to help them raise funds to achieve their goals and aims.
The Hays Travel Foundation was set up in 2015 with the main focus of helping young people achieve and be the best they can in their health, sport, education, arts and the culture. As a company Hays Travel allows its retail branches to apply for match funding from the foundation and double the proceeds from their fundraising.
